It is well aware that ‘Mahabharat’ mega serial had become very popular in Hindi. People used to suspend all their works on Sunday and settle before the idiot box to watch the serial telecast through Doordarshan network. Popular producer Doraswamy Raju, who had produced films like Annamayya is now planning to produce ‘Mahabharat’ serial in Telugu under the direction of Udayabhaskar, who had directed ‘Vengamamba’ recently. The shooting of the serial was formally launched at Sarathi Studios recently. Saikiran is playing the role of Lord Krishna. The producer is planning to complete the serial to be telecast in some 500 episodes. If the initial response to the film was good, it may be extended to around 1,000 episodes. However, the producer is yet to decide in which channel the serial would be telecast.
